Orick Rodeo

A northern Humboldt County tradition for 60 years, the annual Orick Rodeo is usually held the second weekend in July. The rodeo offers activities the whole family can enjoy, whether you watch from the bleachers or participate as a cowboy, cowgirl or kid sheep riding. This small town ADA accessible event includes must see Mutton Bustin, Junior Steer Riding, Calf Riding and professional rodeo events.

The Orick Rodeo has been a northern Humboldt County tradition for 60 years.

The weekend fun often includes Quad Barrel Racing, Orick’s World Famous Deep Pit Barbeque, and children’s games. Enjoy beer, food, treats and gifts from local vendors too.

The Orick Rodeo is on the California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association (CCPRA) circuit. Each year, contestants at CCPRA rodeos vie for over $500,000  in prize money. This money is raised through entry fees and other additional money added to the purses, making these events some of the most lucrative for contestants on the West Coast.

What sets the CCPRA apart from other rodeo associations is the emphasis it places on giving back to the communities where its rodeos are held. CCPRA rodeo events include bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc, team roping, calf roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, breakaway roping and calf dressing. Please leave dogs and ice chests at home.

Sponsored by Orick Chamber of Commerce and presented by the Orick Rodeo Committee and West Coast Rodeo Company. For more information, including for tickets, schedule of events, etc., please call 707-488-2885, email orickrodeo@gmail.com or visit (and please like) the Facebook page.
